Hello all,

I would like to understand how can 1 setup to pull the cost from the Budget tabs for the non stock items for projects. Also, how can 1 setup and pull the cost for Cost Codes, is it required to map the cost code under budgets tabs with/without item and defining the unit rate?

@Harry, there's no setting that makes POs or AP bills pull cost from the project budget. The standard cost comes in on the budget line itself. When you add a non-stock item on the Cost Budget tab of Projects (PM301000), Unit Rate defaults from the item's standard cost (Current Cost on the item's Price/Cost tab). Type the project's own rate over it.

Change Orders (PM308000) reuse that rate. A cost budget line on a change order that matches an existing budget line on task, account group, item and cost code takes that line's Unit Rate. If nothing matches, it falls back to the standard cost.

POs and bills never read the budget. A non-stock line takes the price from Vendor Prices (AP202000) first, then the vendor's last price for that item, then the standard cost. Vendor prices aren't tied to a project, so a project-specific cost on a PO takes a customization.

For cost codes, the project's Cost Budget Level on the Summary tab decides what a budget line carries. At Task and Cost Code there's no item, so Unit Rate starts at 0 and you enter it. At Task, Item, and Cost Code the line has both, and the rate defaults from the item. Either way, put the rate on the budget line you want change orders to pick up.
