System Email Account for Gmail

Basic authentication is no longer supported for Gmail, and the AUG Forums post from 2019 is unfortunately, outdated.  You’ll need to use Google Workspace or Gmail account using Modern Authentication (OAuth 2.0). Google ended the support of the use of third-party apps or devices that ask users to sign in using only the username and password of their Google Accounts starting from May 30, 2022. This affected all users that use Google Workspace and Gmail accounts for sending and receiving emails via IMAP, POP3, and SMTP protocols.

Workaround:

Option 1

Step 1: Turn on 2-Step Verification for your Google account. For instructions, refer to the Turn on 2-Step Verification help article in the Google Account Help portal.

Step 2: Create an app password. For instructions, refer to the Create & use App Passwords section of the Sign in with App Passwords help article in the Google Account Help portal.

Step 3: In Acumatica ERP, use the 16-character code received during Step 2 as the password for your email account on the System Email Account (SM204002) form.

Hi ​@jamesh I was able to set up the email account with OAuth, however I received the below error message. Are you familar with this? Does it have to do with my server port? Thanks!

​@jamesh Thank you, that was the issue. I checked the Encrypt Connection check box. But I did keep the port numbers and was still able to test without errors. 

Can you explain to me the difference between the server ports and usually where these port numbers can be found? Is it possible to test successfully even with incorrect ports? Thanks!

The port numbers are based on the email protocol (typically), and/or the server running the email connection.  You’d need to look up the port requirements from the email providers.
