Limit Access rights on specific branches

I need to allow limited access to a branch outside a user’s home branch.

One specific example - Our production managers need to see inventory levels at branches other than their own. This ability lets them find stock items they need to order from a sister branch. I don’t want to give the production manger the same rights they have on their own branch.

Is there a way to do this?

Also, this is just an example. There are other similar situations.

Hi,

What about creating a generic inquiry that will give your production managers exactly what they need to see (the ability to quickly and accuratly find stock items they need to order from a sister branch) and you grant those managers access to this new GI ? Would that work for you ?

HI @rcreasy

Have you looked at Row Level Security? You could create Inventory Item Access and allow production managers to see certain items/item classes. You would need to create possibly a few Groups though.

Here is the help also:

@kandybeatty49 thanks, exploring.
Will this work across branches, if a user doesn’t have access to a branch, can that user see inventory on that branch?

Hi @rcreasy

That is the limitation. If you don’t have any access to the Branch, then no.

The only way it would seem to work is give access to the Branch then restrict the items and other things they can. It’s going to be tons of manual work though.

This needs to be an access level in itself. Most ERPs allow for users to view inventory levels at other branches and restrict the ability for the user to view things like customers or mistakenly receive inventory in to the incorrect branch causing GL issues.
