How can I install a local instance of MYOB?

If you're a MYOB Advanced partner, log in to the MYOB partner self-service portal (partner-self-service-portal.myobadvanced.com) and download the MYOB Advanced installer and demo data (e.g. the Sales demo) for the version you need. Install it locally the same way as Acumatica: IIS + SQL Server, run the installer, then use the Configuration Wizard to create the instance and load the demo data snapshot. Match the version to your customer's instance so your customizations behave the same. If you don't have partner access, you'll need to request it through MYOB or your reseller.

FYI, I did this a while back and may have missed a step, so please try it and see if it works for you.

You're right. The Partner Portal appears to be for MYOB partners only, so independent users likely can't download the MYOB build from there.
You can try the following options:

• Apply to the MYOB Acumatica Developer Program through developer.myob.com. This is the official way to get sandbox access.
• Ask your customer or their MYOB reseller to provide access to a sandbox/test tenant.
• For a local install, use standard Acumatica from builds.acumatica.com (free 2-user mode). MYOB Acumatica is built on the same platform, so it works for testing customizations and the API, but it won't include MYOB's AU/NZ-specific features.
