Error when uploading snapshot in the U100/SweetLife instance

You may also try download the snapshot again and try import. I suspect the snapshot may not have been downloaded correctly or bad.

Error Description

When attempting to upload or create a snapshot in Acumatica ERP, you may encounter the following error: Error: Could not find a part of the path 'c:\temp\2e5c91c0-0311-4eb7-ae46-ce1b0e79796c.zip'. This error typically occurs when Acumatica cannot locate or access the specified directory for storing snapshots. It may also be caused by misconfigured storage providers, insufficient permissions, or an unlocked instance during the snapshot creation process.

Solution Steps

Step 1: Schedule a Lockout via the Apply Updates Screen

To ensure data consistency and prevent users from making changes during the snapshot creation process, schedule a lockout using the Apply Updates screen.

1. Navigate to System > Management > Apply Updates .

2. Click the Schedule Lockout button (located at the top of the screen).

3. In the pop-up window, specify the date and time for the lockout. Choose a time when user activity is minimal (e.g., late at night or during a maintenance window).

4. Confirm the lockout. Acumatica will automatically lock the instance at the scheduled time.

Note: Notify users in advance about the scheduled lockout to minimize disruption.

Step 2: Verify Folder Path and Permissions

Ensure that the folder specified for storing snapshots exists and has the correct permissions.

1. Check if the folder C:\temp exists on the server where Acumatica is hosted. If it does not exist, create it:

· Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\.

· Right-click and select New > Folder , then name it temp.

2. Verify that the Acumatica application pool identity (or the user account running Acumatica) has read/write permissions to the C:\temp directory:

· Right-click on the C:\temp folder and select Properties .

· Go to the Security tab.

· Ensure that the user account running the Acumatica application pool has Full Control or at least Modify permissions.

Step 3: Remove Storage Provider Information

Misconfigured storage providers can cause issues with snapshot creation. Clear any existing storage provider settings.

1. Navigate to System > Management > Update Preferences .

2. Clear out any existing Storage Provider and Folder Path settings.

3. Turn off the option to Use Update Server if it is enabled.

4. Save the changes.

Step 4: Create the Snapshot in the Tenant Screen

Snapshots are created and managed in the Tenant screen. Follow these steps to create the snapshot:

1. Wait for the scheduled lockout to take effect. Verify that the instance is locked by attempting to log in as a user (you should see a message indicating that the system is locked).

2. Navigate to System > Management > Tenants .

3. Select the tenant for which you want to create the snapshot.

4. Click the Create Snapshot button.

5. Provide a name for the snapshot and select the appropriate options (e.g., include attachments, database only, etc.).

6. Click Save to generate the snapshot.

Step 5: Export the Snapshot

Once the snapshot is created, you need to export it from the source instance.

1. In the Tenants screen, locate the snapshot you just created.

2. Click the Export button next to the snapshot.

3. Save the .zip file to your local machine or a secure location.

Step 6: Import the Snapshot into the Target Instance

After exporting the snapshot, you can import it into the target instance.

1. Log in to the target Acumatica instance.

2. Navigate to System > Management > Tenants .

3. Select the tenant where you want to import the snapshot.

4. Click the Import Snapshot button.

5. Upload the .zip file you exported earlier.

6. Wait for the import process to complete.

Step 7: Restore the Snapshot

Once the snapshot is imported, you can restore it to apply the data to the target instance.

1. In the Tenants screen, locate the imported snapshot.

2. Click the Restore button next to the snapshot.

3. Confirm the restoration process. This will overwrite the current tenant's data with the data from the snapshot.

Step 8: End the Lockout

After completing the snapshot creation, export, import, and restoration processes, unlock the instance to allow users to resume their work.

1. Return to System > Management > Apply Updates .

2. Click the End Lockout button to unlock the instance.

Additional Tips

1. Use a Different Temp Directory (Optional)

If the issue persists, consider changing the temporary directory used by Acumatica:

· Open the web.config file of your Acumatica instance.

· Add or modify the following key: <add key="TempDirectory" value="D:\NewTempFolder" />

· Ensure the new directory exists and has the appropriate permissions.

2. Enable Tracing for Debugging

If the error continues to occur, enable tracing to gather more information:

1. Go to System > Management > Trace Settings .

2. Enable tracing and reproduce the error.

3. Review the trace logs for detailed error messages.

3. Backup Strategy

Try using Acumatica ERP Configuration Wizard to create U100 snapshot directly.

Attempted doing this method. It worked! Still not able to upload the snapshot so I’ll have to figure out what the issue is with the Import Snapshot action at some point but I do appreciate the help!

Attempted to download the snapshot again. I changed Acumatica versions from Build 24.207.0011 to Build 24.200.0118 and used that zip in the AWS storage instead, but still produced the same error when attempting to execute the import. Thanks for the help though.
