25% Retired Version Premium for Private Hosted

It is new to me as well.  Our 2023R2 version expires on May 31st.  The Upcoming Renewal form has very vague language at the end. It seems Acumatica is going forcing customers to things according to there timeline rather than work with customers on case by case basis.  I am not sure what constitutes the fee charge.  The note says “may result” in a fee if don’t upgrade by there deadline.

May someone at Acumatica can explain the bell that causes the fee.   It says up to 25% of the retired version premium.  It was definitely not announced..

     In my view, every company should have the right to decide whether to upgrade to the latest version or continue using a stable version they are familiar with. Just like individuals who can choose whether to upgrade their iPhone’s operating system, enterprises should have autonomy over their software lifecycle.

    There are fundamental differences between enterprise-level and personal software. Enterprise solutions are used by diverse teams with varying technical proficiencies. Every upgrade, if accompanied by new UIs or operational changes, can pose challenges—for example, users unfamiliar with updates may face productivity delays or workflow disruptions.

      What’s worse, for our company, the latest version does not support Windows 2016 + SQL Server 2016. This means upgrading would require a massive project involving not just software but also underlying infrastructure, adding significant complexity and cost.

I certainly echo ​@ray20 ‘s sentiments.  We are deeply embedded in some functionality that is potentially getting phased out, and stopping upgrades altogether to keep it is an option we’re considering.  RVP is just salt on the wound of being possibly forced to do so.

If I can offer our recent experience, we’re about to upgrade 23R2 to 25R1.  Given a pretty tight window between Patch 1 (which we wanted) and the 5/31 deprecation, we had concerns about possibly needing to push out our upgrade.  After a few discussions with and by our VAR, we found the RVP gets assessed at license renewal.  We had just renewed our license, so as long as we upgraded by next spring we were in the clear.

YMMV as they say.  Hopefully someone from Acumatica can provide clarity.
