Hi everybody,

do you know if

  • one can add a subreport in another subreport? (And then have both of them in main)
  • or as alternative solution: add on the main report a second subreport in the same section type (second reportfootersection)?

Hi @LaurenceGiraud36 ,

You can indeed nest Subreports!  I usually only do it when I need to selectively pull individual calculations into a larger analysis, but I have one in particular that goes 5 subreports deep (though I suspect there’s some back-end programming that would make it more efficient).

Just a few precautions - first, getting things to format properly when exporting into Excel can get really wonky.  Definitely test, you may have to manually define rows/columns to get it to work correctly.

Second, you can pass subreport variables to other subreports but again, it’s extremely fiddly.

Finally, make sure you really understand what you’re trying to pull to prevent major system impacts.  I’ve definitely had a few paperclips thrown at me for making that mistake.

Best of luck!

I have used the approach of adding a second subreport in the same section type of the main report, such as a second Report Footer section, many times and it works well.

I do not have personal experience (that I can recall) with adding a subreport inside another subreport, so I cannot confirm whether that would work.

Thanks for your quick feedback!

Hi @LaurenceGiraud36 ,

Please find the answer to your questions.

1.Can you add a subreport inside another subreport?
I don't think the Acumatica Report Designer supports nesting subreports (i.e., placing a subreport inside another subreport). The rendering engine only resolves one level of subreport at a time, and attempting to nest them may cause errors or result in the inner subreport not rendering at all.

2. Can you add multiple subreports in the same section of the main report (e.g., multiple subreports in a ReportFooterSection)?

Yes, this is supported. You can:

  • Place multiple subreports in the same section (e.g., ReportFooterSection1).
  • Or, use different footer/detail/group sections depending on how you want to organize output. They will all be evaluated sequentially at runtime.

       Just make sure:

  • The subreports do not overlap.
  • Their visibility and data parameters are well-defined to avoid rendering or filtering issues.

Hope this helps!
