Passing Parent Parameter to multiple generic inquires as data source

Trying out the new generic inquiry as data source capabilities in 2024.

Doing a Customer Sales report combining MTD and YTD.

Created MTD Generic Inquiry - all good. Month Parameter

Created YTD Generic Inquiry - all good. Month Parameter

Created a new inquiry with the MTD and YTD as data sources however I cannot get it to work when using a Month parameter on the Parent Inquiry.

Have tried using it as per release notes (“When parameters in the parent and source inquiry share the same names, the system creates a link between these parameters”) - does not work.

Have tried Conditions and even adding it to the relation joins.

Has anyone worked out the trick to get this working?

I have past “parameters” through to the child GI DACs but I used the paramters in the joins.  But this requires design considerations.

But I am particularly interested the note from the Release notes - “When parameters in the parent and source inquiry share the same names, the system creates a link between these parameters”.  Could mean the formula name that you can only see in the XML

Can you show as to how you were able to do this? We tried only adding a parameter on the parent inquiry with the same name hoping that the system automatically makes the link to the child inquiry but nothing happens.

Is there something I need to do to explicitly pass down the parameter to the child inquiry in the parent inquiry?
