Dear Community,

As we continue improving dashboards in Modern UI, we are evaluating the current dashboard personalization mechanism and would love to hear your feedback.

Currently, when a user personalizes a dashboard, the system creates a completely independent copy. This means:

• Any changes made to the master dashboard by an admin do not propagate to user copies.

• Users cannot selectively pull updates from the master dashboard — only fully reset to it.

We want to understand how this works for you in real-world scenarios:

• Do you use dashboard personalization in its current form?

• How do you manage updates when the master dashboard changes?

• Would you find it useful to have a way to selectively pull updates while keeping personal changes?

• Are there any specific improvements you’d like to see in how personalization works?

We are considering redesigning the personalization mechanism as part of the Modern UI Dashboards update, and your input will help shape the direction of these improvements.

Let us know your thoughts! Any feedback, pain points, or suggestions would be highly valuable.

We want to understand how this works for you in real-world scenarios:

• Do you use dashboard personalization in its current form? - Yes

• How do you manage updates when the master dashboard changes? - As far as I know, the personalized version stays untouched, unless it is reset by the owner of the dashboard. We currently do not force reset unless absolutely have to. Users have to re-adjust the dashboards from scratch in that case.

• Would you find it useful to have a way to selectively pull updates while keeping personal changes? - Yes, maybe to be able to have different versions of the dashboard and option to pick the active one.

• Are there any specific improvements you’d like to see in how personalization works? - I guess the version management only

We had a scenario come up at a recent implementation where one of the Subject Matter Experts built an a great dashboard, but it was his personalized version.  It would be nice if there was an easier way to pull personalized widgets back into the “stock” dashboard.

We have a customer with a lot of personalized dashboards.  Will these dashboards be retained in the upgrade to 25R2 or is the modern UI going to force a re-creation of the personalized versions?

Hi @jnelson49,

The behavior during the upgrade depends on the origin of the dashboard. There are two main scenarios.

1. Customer-created classic dashboards
If a classic dashboard was created on the site and users have personalized their own copies, then during conversion to Modern UI:

  • The base dashboard is converted to Modern UI.
  • All user-personalized copies are also converted.
  • User-specific changes are preserved.

This is a true conversion flow.

2. System and Sales Demo dashboards delivered with templates
This applies to system dashboards and Sales Demo dashboards that are shipped with templates starting from 26R1. These dashboards are prepared and maintained by Acumatica analysts.

In this case, when switching a dashboard or the entire site to Modern UI:

  • The dashboard is switched to the delivered Modern UI version.
  • User personalizations are not preserved, because this is not a conversion but a replacement with a predefined dashboard.

However, classic dashboards are not removed in this scenario. As a result, customers still have options:

  • Switch back to the classic dashboard if user changes are needed.
  • Remove the delivered Modern UI dashboard as a workaround and convert their own classic dashboard with personalizations, following the first scenario.

This ensures no data is lost and provides flexibility depending on the customer’s needs.
