What would be better structure when using the configurator in Acumatica:

1.- Have a base unit “configurable part number” with multiple options.

2.- Create a blank part number “model” and everything else, “base unit” + options setup as selectable options?

@Chris Hackett I don’t think there is a better answer for this question, it looks like this is more of a company preference.  I do think there is more flexibility if you start from a “blank” part and start adding your options including the base unit.

Thank you,

@ldjmarcog - I’m not sure what you are asking. Maybe this: I would NOT create one (1) UBER configuration with every feature/option. I would break it up into various configurations. This will help with performance.

@Debbie Baldwin - Our product has a base unit which can be loaded with multiple options, basically.  This is the way we currently have the configurator structured where we enter the base unit (which has its own BOM, and it is set as configurable) and access the configurator and select the rest of the multiple options.

But I wonder if we should have created a configurable item with no BOM and add the base unit as an option along with the rest of the options when the configurator is setup.  This way the base unit is part of the options.

@ldjmarcog I think you have done it correctly. Especially if it’s the same base unit.
