Raw Material Inventory Request and Reservation in Acumatica

Hi,

I would like to know a method to reserve and request raw material inventory from the Raw Material Stores under the following two scenarios:

  1. When the Manufacturing module is not enabled

  2. When the Manufacturing module is enabled, and production orders are raised against specific Sales Orders

In both cases, users are required to request raw materials from the stores for specific lot or batch numbers allocated to a particular Sales Order. Once the inventory is allocated, it must be reserved and restricted from being issued to any other order.

Could you please advise whether there is a standard process or recommended method in Acumatica to handle this scenario

Thank you in advance

You must allocate the materials to each production order.  This is done on the Materials grid.  This reserves the materials for production.

Linking the production order to the sales order will allocate the finished production goods to the sales order.

If you search online help for Inventory Allocations, that should provide you with some guidance.  Below are a couple of topics to get you started.

Hi @angierowley75

Thank you for the above links.

In my scenario I need to reserve and lock the raw material inventory related to a sales order.

Within the Sales Orders module, the system allows reservation or allocation of Finished Goods listed in the sales order lines. However, it does not support reservation of the raw materials used in the production of those Finished Goods.

Do you have any idea of a way of achieving this functionality, when we have Manufacturing module enabled with Multiple BOM levels and when the Manufacturing module is not there

Thanks,

Nadeeka

Adding to @angierowley75,

You can automate the allocation of available raw materials immediately after a production order is created from a sales order by leveraging a Generic Inquiry and Business Event.

To achieve this, you’ll need to create a Generic Inquiry that retrieves production orders along with their raw material details when it for created from sales order. Using this inquiry, you can set up a Business Event that triggers an Import Scenario to allocate the stock automatically.

This setup will help streamline and automate the raw material allocation process.
