Answer

Is there a way to post overhead costs on a monthly basis rather than only at the time of final move?

I have production orders that span multiple months, but the Qty to Produce is just 1 unit (e.g., large machinery or equipment). Since Acumatica only posts overhead at the time of the final move, all overhead gets booked in a single month — even though the production activity and costs are spread across multiple months.

This creates challenges in monthly financial reporting, as it overstates costs in one month and understates them in the others.

@jvarughese23 - we have an enhancement that will allow overhead to be posted with each labor transaction. It is currently being tested. Our hope is to deliver this with 25 R2.

@Debbie Baldwin - is this included in 25R2?  We are constantly posting move transactions at the end of month to have the associated OH with labor posted in same month.

@sahbixby .. Seems Yes  , However I haven't tested it yet.  Mentioned below the release notes …

Real-Time Variable Overhead Costing on Transaction Release
You no longer need to wait for a move transaction to see your true production costs. Variable overheads based
on labor or material are now applied as soon as the labor or material transaction is released, giving you instant
visibility into overheads for both production and disassembly orders.
How You Benefit
Greatly reduced data release issues: A fully connected release process means less room for transaction mismatch, orphaned updates, or reporting discrepancies.
• Less manual troubleshooting: Elimination of partial data updates reduces the need for support calls and post-release correction efforts.
• More reliable tracking of the financial impact: With production and inventory updates happening at the same time, the GL and cost effects are easier to audit and align.
• Accurate WIP totals and no surprise cost spikes: See true WIP values even before move transactions.

Caution: If you are using MTO feature in Sales Orders, the new release process does not allocate the production receipt to the sales order line.  A support case has been entered and I asked Acumatica to describe the problem in the known issues but they have not yet,
