Cost Roll only seems to work if you are using standard costs.

Is it possible to do a cost roll if you are using average costs?

Laura,

Thanks for the response.  The finished stock item is average cost.  Since the cost roll updates the standard cost area of the finished item, this seems like a silly question now.  I thought maybe it could update last cost or something.

Thanks!

If you’re using average cost, you can still Roll Costs, but the Update Pending button doesn’t update anything since inventory is not carried at standard.

You could, however, setup a Business Event trigger to read AmBomCost afterwards and update the rolled cost as Last Cost in the respective Item-Warehouse pair, should you wish to do so, since the field is editable.

Hello @ltussing03 ,

The Acumatica Help shows Materials Costs used by Cost Roll screen are dependent upon the Valuation method of the Component Materials. Component Material valuation method could be FIFO, Average Cost, Standard Cost, or Specific → Specific substitutes Last Cost. Only the Machine Costs appear to be linked to a standard machine cost per hour/piece.

Can you provide an example, to show us the details of what is not working in your circumstances, your configurations?
