Checking material availability in Production order w/multiple bin locations and only one set for Production

We have one bin location set on our BOMS to backflush from.  We transfer materials to that location from different Inventory stocking bin locations.  The issue is if we have Critical material on our Production order, it may just not have been transferred or we may not have it.  The only location the Production Order looks at for inventory is our bin location set on BOMS.  We do not want material backflushing from any other location, but we need our Production Manager to see availability within our Inventory quickly.  Any suggestions?

1. Create the GI

  • Build a Generic Inquiry to show stock availability.
  • Show key fields: Item, Description, Warehouse, Location, Qty On Hand, Qty Available.
  • use INLocationStatus Table

2. Add Side Panel

  • Attach this GI as a side panel to Production Order Maintenance.
  • Pass InventoryID from the production order line so the GI shows the matching item’s.

3. BOM Setup

  • In Bill of Material  Materials tab, set Issue From Location = WIP Bin.
  • Ensures system always issues from the WIP bin.

4. Stock Analysis & Transfer

  • From Production Order details screen, use the side panel to analysis.
  • If stock is low perform an Inventory Transfer from other locations into WIP.

5. Backflush

  • Once WIP has enough stock, run Backflush.

Could you create a GI and add it as a side panel?

Not sure on the side panel, as we would like to review all the items at one time in each location.  Our BOMs have 100’s of items and to look at inventory one by one if on Critical is very time consuming.

Hi @KTarenski were you able to find a solution? Thank you!

We have not found a solution Chris.  We have multiple bins and have them turned off for Production because we wanted Production to backflush all material from WIP (work in process) location and not our Inventory bins.  It was a safety measure for Inventory.

Will we be able to see Inventory in ALL bin locations from the GI you suggest above?

Yes, you can use InLocationStatus table. That will bring values for all the locations.
