Make User-Defined Fields (UDFs) much more powerful — need your input

Hard to pick, all seem like they would be adventagous. Making UDFs more flexibile and actionable would allow Acumatica to suit more industry verticals with unique data that they need.

Our use case: Acumatica lacks Stock Item Revision, which is a large gap for a manufacturing company with part revision cutoffs/changeovers.  I would like to define a Revision on the Stock Item and have that flow to the BOM, and then have that flow to the Production Order so we can have a clean break for production.  For example, Production Order #1 has part number Z Rev A, and Production Order #2 has part number Z Rev B.

This use case is admittedly more complicated than the SO or PO flow.  There would need to be a prompt when updating Revision on the Stock Item as to whether the Item Revision should be updated in all the BOMs where that Item is used.

In the end, I’m hoping Acumatica puts in a robust Item Revision concept where we don’t have to use UDF, but in the meantime a UDF might be viable.

2. Attributes can do database lookups but you cannot use this type of attribute in the product configurator.

5, 3, 4, 2, 1 would be my priority list.

For number 4, the only issue I have with UDFs is when there is GI grouping. We need to extend the KVExt table as DAC to get it to group correctly for use in formulas.

I vote for all and also would suggest the ability to connect custom fields lookup to out f the box entities. i.e. in PO I can select the Appointment with some defined restriction (i.e. Status not in Billed, Closed, Cancelled) I am buying something for. Or select Project with some restriction parameters in a custom field. I mean without code customization otherwise we already are doing with code.

As for the cross-screen carry overs (#5) That will be really great if the custom fields specially from the transaction lines are carried to Journal Transactions (GLTran) and Project Transactions (PMTran). Recently we had a business need that we can track cost against pieces of equipment. To do so we had to add a custom equipment field to quite a few screen and override a countless number of BLCs or Classes so we can carry for example a piece of equipment from PO => PO receipt => AP Bills => GL Tran => PM Tran (if applicable) or from Expense Receipts to do the same.

I wish I had read this before filling out the survey.  This would be huge.

hello, Cross-screen carryover is extremely important and highly requested by all customers. 

And it would be great to extend this to finance by having UDFs per account in the chart of accounts, and being able to retrieve the values entered in the original GL Batch document in the GL Batch.
