Did you know labor doesn’t have to exactly match your payroll timing? Something we decided during implementation was to process labor weekly (instead of matching our biweekly payroll) and to not process labor in summary. This has enabled us to make our billing much more accurate and timely, since Billing only has to wait a maximum of 7 days for posted labor. And we’ve been able to provide much more accurate, in-depth reports to our program managers and our customers.

The key things to keep in mind when attempting to process labor weekly:

  1. You have to be on a Biweekly Schedule (If you are semi-monthly, you are not able to do this. You have to process the entire payroll period.).
  2. Timesheet Schedule: Ensure your timesheet schedule is defined with a Biweekly Pay Frequency and a Weekly Timesheet Frequency.
  3. Process and Release Week 1 in labor batch.
  4. Repeat for Week 2.
  5. Create Payroll Batch with Bi-weekly Pay Period End Date.
  6. This will bring in both batches for the Week 1 and Week 2.
