What is a JAMIS Prime Oldie but Goodie features or processes that is your go to or favorite feature? We have a lot of customers that use features and processes differently, and this is a great opportunity to share.

My favorite “oldie but goodie” outside of Customization Projects is probably Generic Inquiries.

They’re extremely useful reporting tools, but they also are the foundations for all of my dashboards, business events, notifications, and even support our custom development efforts.

One particularly useful feature of Generic Inquires is “Export as Report” which has helped me mitigate Report Designer’s learning curve.

My favorite Oldie but Goodie is the Company Calendar. I am forever going to this area and looking up who is off within our company. Also, it is one that always comes up with customers wanting to know how approvers see who is off after approving time off request.

JAMIS Prime ERP Company Calendar

In JAMIS Prime, the company calendar (form WM3060JM) displays scheduled work activities and events created by you and other employees. It helps teams organize schedules, track shared training events, manage personal appointments, and coordinate free or busy times across different projects and branches.

Once on the screen under the filter icon, you can select to see Work Activity or Time Off request within your company.

Key Functions

  • View Events: Show both personal and company-wide work activities on a single interface.
  • Work Categories: Group calendar entries by administrator-defined activities like training or meetings.
  • Visibility Control: Restrict specific event types (like personal appointments) so only you can see them.
  • Schedule Coordination: Track employee availability to estimate work time and overtime efficiently.

One of my all-time favorite features that I use a lot is "Log in as User" on the Users (SM201010) screen.

By allowing me to see the site as another user, I can make sure that access changes to roles and new screens behave as I want. I log in as a user who should see the screen (or fields) and as a user who shouldn't see the screen (or fields) to confirm the changes were made properly.

Without that feature built in, we'd have to maintain numerous "fake" user accounts of various User Types and with various Roles to validate.
