Hello,

When we have migrated the fixed assets and when we run depreciation for the next first period, system will look at the asset from the acquisition date and calculate any over/under depreciation.

Is there any way that we can depreciate asset from the migration date without doing over/under adjustment by the system for the fist period after migration? Simply system needs to run depreciation without considering over/under depreciation adjustments.

Thank you,

Dulanjana

@dsenevirathne54  In the FA/Balance Tab, if the Depreciation Method is changed to RV (remaining value), the depreciation will be spread equally (straight line) across all remaining periods in FA’s life.  There will be no over-under adjustment.

Hope this helps

Hello @JohnMichels ,

Thank you for your comment and Yes, it seems to be the option. I tested and working as expected.

My scenario current method is SL but there were some changes in dep method in the past which makes the accumulated deps do not tally. By moving into RV we can resolve any P&L hits.

Thank you.

@dsenevirathne54   The Averaging Convention (FA Classes screen) also impacts how the depreciation will be calculated in the acquisition period. Some additional research into this configuration setting may be beneficial to you; this setting is used in conjunction with the Mid-Period Type and Mid-Period Day impacting depreciation in the acquisition

Good Luck

Hello @JohnMichels ,

Thank you , yes I'm aware of it. My concern was eliminating ever/under depreciation with a migration of fixed assets occurring due to prior incorrect calculation.

Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you,
