Hi everyone,

I’m running into a multi-currency issue in Acumatica. I have a GL account that’s in CAD. The foreign currency balance on the account is CAD $0.00, but the base currency (USD) shows a balance of -1,094.84.

I’ve reviewed the transactions, and everything seems closed out in CAD, but this lingering USD balance remains. I tried revaluation, but it didn’t fix the issue.

How can I adjust this without affecting the foreign currency balance?

Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

@brosenfeld i received assistance from AI. Please try the following solution

Manual Journal Entry to Adjust Base Currency Only
Acumatica allows you to create a base-only adjustment by entering a journal transaction without a foreign currency amount, effectively leaving the foreign balance untouched.

Steps:
Go to: Finance → Journal Transactions (GL301000)

Create a new Journal Transaction

Branch: Same as the affected account

Currency: Base Currency (USD)

Date: As needed (e.g., end of period)

Description: "Adjustment to clear residual base balance on CAD account"

Enter the transaction line:

Account: The CAD-denominated GL account with the issue

Debit or Credit: Use $1,094.84 (opposite of the current base balance)

Currency Amount: Leave blank or $0.00 – this ensures no foreign amount is posted.

Leave Currency ID as CAD, but do not enter a foreign currency amount

Offsetting Line:

Use an appropriate exchange gain/loss account or a clearing account.

Enter the opposite base currency amount to balance the journal.

Again, no foreign currency amount.

Review & Post:

Confirm that the foreign currency balance on the CAD account remains zero.

Post the transaction.

Optional: Use the Reclassification Tool

Acumatica also has a Reclassification Tool under Finance → Reclassification, which can help move base-only amounts between accounts without touching foreign currency amounts—but it’s often overkill for simple cleanups like this.
