Does anyone know how to back up database? I want to start backing up our data periodically and couldn’t find the how-to anywhere. I am using Canadian Localization 25R1.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, below are the steps I follow when making a Snapshot backup.

  1. Coordinate with users to select a time when everyone can be out of the system for a few minutes.
  2. In Apply Updates screen, Click Schedule Lockout.  Enter the agreed-upon date and time.  Click OK.
  3. At the agreed-upon time, use Active Users tab of System Monitor screen to verify you are the only active User.
  4. Use Tenants screen to Create Snapshot (button at top). Make a full backup.
  5. Last, End the Scheduled Lockout in Apply Updates screen.

What hosting model are you using? If you’re SaaS, this would be handled by Acumatica. If you're on-prem or private cloud, you can create a SQL job to do this on a schedule.

Thank you Laura! I used this procedure when I copied the production tenant to a test tenant last year. I thought there might be another way to back up & create copy of cloud data to a local drive. This would be sort of “a second location” of the cloud back up. Similar to daily server back up if that make sense.

Thank you Daryl. We are on SaaS.

Hi @paragshah ,

As your instance is hosted on Acumatica SaaS, database backups are managed by Acumatica.
you can raise a Support Ticket to request a database backup or instance snapshot. Taking periodic snapshots of your Acumatica instance is recommended.

Hope above helps!!

Hello, The Snapshot may be exported and stored locally.  As others have mentioned, Acumatica backs up your data regularly. In case of catastrophe, a restore from Acumatica’s latest backup is the obvious solution.  Absent a catastrophe, Snapshots are an easy, free way to make intermittent local copies of your tenants.
