Training Description: This webinar provides a set of lessons that illustrate project accounting processes in a midsize company.
Training Syllabus: The program is covered over three days as follows:
- Day 1: Implementation of Project Functionality. In this session, you will enable the needed system features, perform the minimum required configuration, learn the recommended settings that you can specify to make the system fit your business requirements, prepare the system for the creation of account groups, create an account group and map accounts to this group, and review the chart of accounts and find the account group associated with a particular GL account. You will also learn how to plan a project structure, create a project and specify its settings, plan the structure of the project budget, and process a project during its lifecycle. Moreover, you will create a project task for a particular project, configure the rules of the project task completion, configure a project task to be billed separately from other project tasks, set a project task as a default for a project, capture project costs using project transactions, make the system create a project transaction based on a GL transaction, create a project transaction without posting to the general ledger, and review how the system has updated the project budget on release of the project transaction.
- Day 2: Capturing of Costs for Projects. Project Billing. In the second session, you will learn how to configure a project to track project inventory by warehouse location, process documents with project-related stock items, review project and GL transactions that have been generated during the processing of item sales and purchases, enter the accounts payable bill for the project, specify the services to be purchased, and release the bill, and review the project and GL transactions that are generated during the processing of a purchase. You will also learn how to select the type of the document to be prepared, make sure that the project is ready to be billed, configure the direct creation of AR documents for the project, and bill the project with the direct creation of an AR invoice. You wll learn how to configure the pro forma invoice workflow for a project, create a pro forma invoice, print the pro forma invoice, send the pro forma invoice as an email, create an accounts receivable invoice based on a pro forma invoice, configure a progress billing rule, update the project progress to make it ready to be billed, run project billing for a project, process the documents that have been generated during the project billing, and review how the project’s actual amounts are updated with the billed amounts.
- Day 3: Budget and Balances. In this session, you will become familiar with the configuring a time and material billing rule, making sure that the project is ready to be billed, running project billing for a project, processing the documents that have been generated during the project billing, and reviewing how the project’s actual amounts are updated with the billed amounts. You will learn how to add a time and material step to a billing rule to process a new type of expenses, use item prices in billing rules, configure project billing to create a single invoice for the project or to create multiple separate invoices, bill the project with different billing rules assigned to the project tasks, bill a project task separately from the other tasks of the project, and bill project transactions that are associated with particular account groups separately from the other. You will also learn how to review the actual income and actual expenses of a project, understand whether the project has amounts that are pending billing, review the list of project commitments and the project budget broken down by account group.

*To provide a cloud instance for attendees, we need to generate a registration report and perform some activities to deploy the instance and send out the credentials. All this takes time and we have to do it several hours before the webinar. So we highly recommend not leaving the registration up to the last minute of the webinar start. Everyone who registers after 6 AM PT of Day 1 session will not receive the link to the cloud instance and credentials for it and will have to attend a webinar in a view-only format.

Completion of this class does not give you an automatic completion of the related course at Partner University; you will still need to complete the exam at Partner University.

In his current position, Aleksei Chashchin collects and analyses business requirements for the construction industry to provide functional specifications to the development team. In addition, Aleksei manages support requests from customers and consults partners on product functionality.
Before joining the Project & Construction team Aleksei was a business analyst in the CRM team and focused on gathering business requirements for the marketing, sales and support functionality.
Prerequisites
For this webinar, attendees are expected to complete the F100 Financial Basics course and be familiar with the basic business processes that can be performed in the general ledger, inventory and order management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
