Answer

Two shipments and one SO simultaneously

Hello everyone

My company requires to open several shipments that have several lines (products) of one SO.

Acumatica doesn’t allow you to have an open (unconfirmed) shipment add modify the sale order simultaneously. I need to  create multiple open shipments at the same time. If you create one shipment it lock the SO and doesn’t allow you to create additional shipments without confirming them.

Does anyone know how to unlock the SO?

Hi @Ramos5522

Check below suggestions as well in Acumatica Blanket sales order.

As @Naveen Boga Suggested shipment creation is possible when we different houses.

Hi @Ramos5522

One way that you can do this, is by directly navigating to the Shipments screen and clicking on Add Shipment.

Select the Customer, the Warehouse and then the Add Order button gets enabled. This way you can select the specific lines to be added to this shipment and process it .

Hoping this helps you and this is what you are looking for.

Thanks

Sai

Hello @Sai Chettiar

Thank for taking the time, the issue is that in the fist Shipment (#1) i have a product of the SO (#1), that shipments its unconfirmed due delays. But whenever i want to make shipment (#2) it does have a product from the SO#1, but I can´t add that product because shipment 1 its not confirm and the SO#1 its blocked.

thats the problem

Hello @Ramos5522

creating Multiple shipments and editing the sales order is possible if Back order Allowed is selected in line level. (Note: Without confirming the shipment we can’t create shipment again for the same SO and we can’t edit ).

Hi, @Ramos5522

I understand that you might be using a different version of Acumatica, so the information I'm providing is based on the 23 R1 version. In this version, Acumatica allows the creation of a second shipment, even if the first shipment has not been confirmed.

I am aware that this issue existed in older versions of Acumatica, but it was considered as an Acumatica limitation. With the advancements in the 23 R1 version, this limitation has been addressed, and you now have the flexibility to create a second shipment without waiting for the confirmation of the first one.

Hi @Naveen Boga

Can you point me in the direction of where you saw this?
I’ve been searching the release notes for 23 R1 but can’t see this mentioned.

Thank you

I’m also unable to create a second shipment before the first shipment is confirmed in a local instance of 23 R1

@Naveen Boga Can you let me know of any configuration you had to change to allow this?

I found it is possible to create a second open shipment if it is for a different Warehouse to the first open shipment.

This still leaves a large gap in the software as there are many use cases for multiple open shipments from the warehouse of the same same sales order.

Hopefully Acumatica can address this soon as it creates a very slow and inaccurate shipping process for users that need this behaviour.

We are on version 2024 R2, and also cannot create a second shipment on the same Sales Order without confirming the first. Are there any updates to this?

@leahcarpenito, unfortunately, it is still not possible. Would you mind sharing your scenarios in detail? We’re gathering feedback on this limitation and your input would be helpful.

Sure!

  • Scenario one: Same SO and same date shipment, but the items are going via two different carriers or two different trucks - so we generate a shipment for each, since they are not traveling together. This can even be for the same line item (example Line 1: Qty of 2, but each is being shipped on a large trailer and only one can fit per truck), so we generate two shipments.
  • Scenario two: Same Sales order, multi lines - same situation, going via multiple carriers or trucks. Or in the case where a shipment is generated and then delayed, so we don’t want to confirm it as shipped, but have to in order to be able to manage the other lines on the order.

@leahcarpenito Thank you so much for sharing these scenarios! That makes perfect sense and helps clarify the need for this functionality.

Yes, I am currently having this issue as well!

We have heavy orders (60,000lbs-200,000lbs) so we cannot fit all the product on 1 truck but still need to ship them both on the same day. We also have backordered allowed turned on but we really need ship complete turned on but noticed you cannot have multiple shipments if ship complete is turned on. Have ran into issues where we had to delete the 2nd shipment on the order so we can adjust the first shipment items since everything wasn't delivered that was supposed to be on the truck. I've looked into the Blanket orders, but our orders are super requested date sensitive and need to invoice in full from the order and not the shipment.

Hi @vshashkova are you saying that a customisation exists makeing it possible to have more than one open shipment for the same sales order and warehouse?

Here’s another use case scenario to add to your list:

We have bulk orders with several products coming off a production line and being added to a pallet over several days. The same sales order can also have other products that need to be shipped immediately  when produced, while the bulk shipment is still open and being added to, so the immediate products need their own shipment created (while the other is still open).

I met with the customization team last week to see if it's possible, will keep this thread updated once I hear back, even offered where we don’t necessarily have to have multiple “open” shipments on an order but just the availability to reopen any shipment on an order and not just the last if changes need to be made.

from talking to them last week there is a lot of tables that would have to be adjusted to have multiple open shipments on an order. So I don’t think they are going to allow that anytime soon.
