Question

Items to package out of order

When I click on the ADD ITEMS TO PACKAGE on the SHIPMENT, the ITEMS are not in the same order as the PICK LIST. Why is that? and more importantly, how do you fix it?

Please advise. Thanks!

@Rgutierrez1 The Add items in the Package tab are in the Shipment Line Split Order i would doubt your Pick List is set to Print in that order and would you want it too. You cannot change the Add Items in the Packages tab to print in the Split Order

@Rgutierrez1,

Why this happens

The Pick List is usually sorted by the warehouse "Pick Path" (Location priority). However, the Add Items to Package dialog is a standard grid that typically defaults to sorting by Line Number or Inventory ID, ignoring the warehouse logic.

Method 1: Manual Column Alignment (No Coding)

Acumatica allows users to save personal grid configurations. You can synchronize the view manually:

  1. Open the Shipments (SO302000) screen and select your shipment.
  2. Click Add Items to Package to open the pop-up.
  3. Sort the Grid: Click the header of the Location column (or whichever column your Pick List uses for sorting) and select Sort Ascending.
  4. Save the View: Click the Column Configuration icon (the gear/cog icon in the top-left corner of the grid). Simply click OK in that window.
    • Result: Acumatica saves this sort preference to your user profile. The next time you open this pop-up, it will remember to sort by Location automatically.

Method 2: Use WMS "Pick, Pack, and Ship" (Recommended)

If you have the Fulfillment feature enabled, using the dedicated WMS screen eliminates this manual step:

  1. Navigate to Pick, Pack, and Ship (SO302020).
  2. In Pick Mode, the system directs you through the warehouse in the correct order.
  3. Once picking is done, enter the @pack command. In Pack Mode, the system presents the items exactly as they were picked, ensuring the packer follows the physical flow of goods.

Method 3: Permanent Fix (Customization)

If you need this to be the default for all users without manual adjustment:

  • A developer must override the View Delegate for the packing pop-up in the SOShipmentEntry graph.
  • The code must be modified to include an OrderBy clause that references INLocation.PickPriority to mirror the Pick List logic.
