Automation to Send Pickup Email When Ship-To Contact Is Empty

Hello,

We’ve created an automation and a business event so that when any Will Call (WC) sales order is ready for pickup, an email is sent to the Ship-To Contact email address. The issue is that our sales reps sometimes leave this field blank.

We enter a large number of WC orders on a daily basis, and calling or manually emailing customers is very time-consuming. I’m looking for a way for the system to automatically send the email to the Sales Order contact (or the “Ordered By” contact) if the Ship-To Contact email field is empty. Is there a way to implement this?

Hi Dawood,

The cleanest way to handle this is by building a dedicated Generic Inquiry (GI). With a GI, you can set up the logic to pull the correct email address based on your condition.

Using a purpose-built GI for Business Events is a best practice, it gives you tighter control over which fields are evaluated and ensures that the automation fires reliably.

@Dawood can you update required email ID with two data fields in your email template.

 

Like ((SOShipmentContact_email)), ((SOORDERContact_email))

Thank you for the feedback. I don’t see that field from the list of available fields. Should I go ahead and type it in, or do I need to take another action?
