Good day everyone,


I’m looking for advice on handling daily releases for large purchase orders in Acumatica. One of my clients places substantial weekly purchase orders with their suppliers (500 lines or more), but due to space constraints in their warehouse, they send the total order qty while requesting daily deliveries. This way, the supplier is aware of the total quantity but ships it in smaller, daily increments.

Basically we are looking for an operation like this example:

 

 


They manage a high volume of part numbers with variations in model, size, and color (matrix items), which adds complexity to the process. Has anyone encountered a similar scenario, and if so, what strategies have worked for you to streamline this kind of operation?

We explored the option of blanket orders but having to generate 6 purchase orders is extremely impractical for the customer.

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do they need to track the daily purchases within Acumatica?  If they place a PO for the total weekly amount at the beginning of the week, the PO will remain open and allow multiple receipts until the received quantity matches the order quantity.

If they work with the supplier offline to coordinate the quantity on daily deliveries they can simply place one PO at the beginning of the week and continue to receive against it until it has been received in full at the end of the week.

Yes they need to have that traceability. The idea of this type of purchase (with releases) is to have a schedule with the suppliers. Creating that schedule outside the system with more than 20 suppliers and PO with 300 + lines is complex. 
We are clear that putting a PO you can receive without release, however the releases are for delivery scheduling with suppliers.

I understand.  In that case I’d suggest creating a template in Excel that can be used to upload to the PO Detail area with various quantities and corresponding Requested dates.  A simpler Excel template can be created by utilizing the column selector and reducing to only the required columns in PO Detail.  

Acumatica doesn’t support PO Releases yet that I’m aware of, so this may be the easiest option for your client.
