SALESMAN IDS IN CRM

Is there any way to assign an actual Salesman ID in the system to either a CRM Lead, Opportunity, or Sales Quote...as I’m not seeing it, and would think it to be an obvious need?

Obviously, there are rules in place to assign an Owner to any of these windows, but even when going into one of those Owner’s employee ids and linking the record to a salesman id, it doesn’t do anything in the process (not exactly sure what the purpose is for the Salesman Link at the employee level, but will leave that for another day).

Just seems strange to me, as the OWNER does all the hard work to cultivate the prospect, but when it comes time to converting the prospect to customer, I’m not seeing where the salesman id/owner can be automatically set at the customer level...am I missing something here?

appreciate it,

mdickson

Hello @mdickson1 !  You are correct. This is an existing idea in the community which is open for consideration.  Please be sure to visit and upvote the idea: Add SalesPerson selector to Opportunity screen | Community  I have made a link to this discussion on that idea as the details on both are very valuable for Acumatica’s roadmap considerations.

I appreciate your time providing a workaround @nhatnghetinh

Thank you both!

Hi @mdickson1

Please see the Owner in the Lead, Opportunity, or Sales Quote... screens of CRM as SalesPerson (Salesman). Because the Owner on the CRM side will also be the Employee ID on the ERP side. Then Employee ID will connect with SalesPerson in Employee screen.

Hi nhatnghetinh,

unfortunately, I’m still not seeing the value of the field you are referring to during this process….as explained below. What am I doing differently then you in this regard, as the Owner ID is not a value i care much about at the Customer Level once converted….only the Salesman ID is of importance?

  1. MY EMPLOYEE ID LINKED TO A SALESMAN….

  1. I go thru the entire LEAD to OPPTY to CRM SALES QUOTE/CREATING BUSINESS ACCOUNT process...whereas you can see below I’ve retained my Ownership status through all of the CRM stages….

  1. But upon flipping CRM Quote to Acumatica Sales Order...no love….I’m not the salesman of record either at the Customer, nor more importantly at the Sales Order level, so basically, I won't see a dime of commission from this sale.

Seems to me the problem would rectify itself if the system allowed the salesman id field to be inputted on at least the CRM SALES QUOTE…..as there is no place for the salesman id when creating the Business Account in CRM either?

thanks

Hi @mdickson1

The idea is to use Business Event to update SalesPerson to the Sales Order and Customers screens as you wish.

Ok...you had made it seem like it was a natural flow....not via a business event....with what you had originally wrote.

Yes, I can create a business event to do this, but just seems like a no brainer to stick a salesman id field onto any of the screens in crm.

Kind of disappointed in that aspect of the module for sure, as its supposed to be for sales dept/marketing folks...yet, no way for sales team to receive credit for their work.....strange?

Take care

We are in the process of converting to Acumatica and our scenario is we have outside salespeople follow up on opportunities and quotes before they become sales orders.  At that point, the inside salesperson converts to an order and processes accordingly.  With our current ERP system, we have to use an outside company to track our quotes and harass salespeople if they haven’t followed up in a day or so.  It seems we will have to continue to do so, which, is very disappointing.
