NEW - Construction Micro Discussions - Union, Non-Union

This idea stems from conversations with customers and product teams looking for a way to have discussions around more specific sets of topics. Two of the areas were: Union Construction and Non-Union Construction. We have decided to pilot these two for now but plan to expand to other topic areas and forums.

So how does it work?

If you want to have a discussion (or ask a question) that’s Union or Non-Union related, just use the Tags to add Union + Construction or Non-Union + Construction. You can see how I have done that with this post. Note that the discussions themselves look the same except will be tagged with either union or non-union at the bottom. This is just a way of filtering everything else out and just seeing topics tagged with those tags.

the biggest piece you guys need to be able to roll out union and non union contractors on the same tenant is branch validation. The biggest flaw Acumatica has today on the construction end is that any branch can post to any project from a costing standpoint. NOTHING validates that the cost is only allowed to post to the branch assigned to the project. 

Without branch validation you run the risk of employees entering time to the wrong company project, PR errors getting miscoded to an incorrect project, ap bills getting coded to the wrong project, and frankly and contractor who does this SHOULD have entirely separate tenants for the union vs non union entities. 

Any instance of the above is a massive red flag for an eventual union audit and a huge risk. I need to deploy complex customizations and security restrictions to the native Acumatica site to be able to even consider this with clients.

We are working on some project specific role and contact work for our 2025 R2 release.  This work will provide the foundation for implementation additional security/view layers.  Our joint teams (Finance, Distribution, Projects/Construction, Payroll, etc.) are slotting time for branch specific work later this year.
