We are a civil construction company 80% done the implementation of our project. Is there shared knowledge on commonly used project profitability reports in construction. We dont want to reinvent the wheel here as there must already be a best practice which can be our starting point. Any help through sample files or or reosurce tips appreciated.

@Charanjit,

The WIP & WIP Detail reports are a couple of the most commonly used construction reports for our customers. The Project Profitability Report is also a good one for a simple income/expense/margin report for a single project or a subset of projects. Screen grabs below:

Hi,
You can start with some standard metrics like Gross Profit Margin and Net Profit Margin. These are key performance indicators that a lot of companies use. Also, keep an eye on cash flow...the Cash Demand Period is another great metric

Thank you. I was also looking for if there are any sample reports or templates available as resources or if someone from the community in civil construction would like to share so we do not build from scratch. Regards

@Charanjit I agree with @mike.gillum about the WIP reports, they are very thorough and a lot of construction companies find it useful.  One thing I really like about it is that you can actually run the report in two ways, one by actual costs and the other by projected costs.  Both serve great purposes and would be good to explore the two options.

some inquiries i also find helpful are the project transaction detail - allows you to drill into and investigate specific transactions; another inquiry would be budget details, which gives you high level budget details for multiple projects at a time!

Thanks

Iqra

If you have a few projects to monitor and you have Velixo, you can look at the sample Project reports that Velixo has on their website and modify them to meet your needs.  When used in combination with the Acumatica reports that others mentioned, you will have a good starting point. Construction/Project report samples - Acumatica : Velixo Help Center
