Default Part in Configurator

How do you create a default part in the product configurator?

@jddonnell55 You didn’t really provide enough detail for me to know exactly what you’re asking, but here is how we include materials that should always be included by default.

  1. We named the first feature in the configuration template “Standard Components”, and unchecked the “Visible” checkbox. This hides it, and any options under it, from the Configuration Entry.
  2. Add regular or phantom materials as options and set the following values as shown below.
    “Fixed Include” = True
    “Qty Enabled” = False“
Qty Required” = =1(or whatever qty is required)

These options won’t be visible because the feature they’re in is not visible, but the qty will be automatically included whenever a configuration result is generated.

Can you provide an example scenario - not sure what you are asking.

The BOM associated to the Configuration is where materials are assigned.

If you have an environment with the Sales Demo data base you can look at the sample Configurations built there to help understand how different configurations can be set up.

This is really an attempt to substitute a part on a standard BOM.  Client has a finished good with a standard door.  However, if the sale includes an awning (selected in the configuration), the door required is shorter and a different part number.  Need to be able to have the configuration default to the standard door 90% of the time but be able to override the default with an optional door.  If possible, how to?

@jddonnell55 you would have to write some rules into your qty available.

For example: If they select the Custom Option, then the qty on the regular door = 0, if not, =1
