I dont believe this is possible but going to ask. Can you allocate an items quantity on a sales order to a location (like how the Shipment does it when it is created). I know you can allocate it to a warehouse. The Location field exists on the Line Details tab of the Sales Order but it is not editable.

@dcomerford i just poked around and didn’t see an option to allocate to the location level on the SO (only warehouse as you stated).  this would most likely require a customization

@iqraharrison thanks just wanted to check as feel would need customisation but not prepared to do it as too many touch points.

This has been frustrating to us; we do a lot of allocation on the sales order because we are delivering packages of equipment, and we don’t want another order “stealing” items for a package we’re getting ready.  A couple of times a month I’m having to explain to people what the “<UNASSIGNED>” location is in Inventory Summary; it shows both the items that are coming in on POs (which I understand--if we haven’t received it yet it doesn’t have a warehouse location), but also all allocated quantities on sales orders.

For a lot of reasons (that one especially) it would be great if we could assign a warehouse location on the sales order.
