The variable to control sub report visibility does not work when exporting to EXCEL, while it is working on Screen and PDF

Hello,

I’ve met an issue in 2020R2 as below:

I created a Variable named FN to control the sub report visibility.
If $FN=0, would display sub report “FNNOW”,

if $FN>0, would display sub report  “FN”,

As math tells, the two conditions above can not be both true at the same time

It is working as expected when showing on screen or export to PDF

But when exporting to Excel, both sub report are displayed at same time.

I don’t understand, is it a platform glitch?

Hi @ray20 ! Currently exporting subreport data is not necessarily “supported”, per se. There are really just two options for exporting data to Excel and this is setting the Excel mode to Auto, or Manual.

Using Manual mode allows more control over the data being sent, but does not pick up subreport data at all, while using Auto mode will get the subreport data but may lose formatting applied.

Hello,

I have two findings to add

1, I have printed the $FN out at the same time, it is 1.
So the $FN=0 should not be true.
But the sub report is still being displayed.

2, The $FN to control the visibility of  a “TextBox” in the main report is OK. Even exporting to excel.

So my large guess is there is something wrong with visibility control of sub report when exporting to excel.

@BenjaminCrisman  Thank you so much for giving all this details.
Can you tell me how /where can I set the two options, “Auto” or “Manual”.
Currently, looks like I am using auto mode.
