Question

Generic Inquiry

I am very familiar with Generic Inquiry.

I am trying to create a new one, even getting down to a very basic request, such as list AssetCD’s

I get the result “error has occured”… generic inquiry does not exist anymore.

I checked another one that worked, copied and pasted to a new GI and the same error message result….

We recently upgraded to 2024R2.

Anybody else having that issue?

@rduke I haven’t heard of this issue of losing GIs, strange indeed. Can you list the exact steps you’re taking so I can better understand your process?

Where are you getting that error message? My suspicion is that this might be a permissions issue.

There was a major change to how permissions work in the 2024 version. Instead of everybody initially receiving permissions to the GI, this has changed to nobody has permissions and you have to define these permissions on GI creation.

In the GI editor click publish to the UI, and then select “set granted for all roles.” When you click on view inquiry, you should see the browser URL end with SO3010PL as in the example below. If you do not have permissions, you will see 00000000 as it shows in the 3rd screenshot

2 different scenarios

1 Go to a working GI, Copy

Create a new GI and paste save and view.

I get the error.

Scenario 2

Create Inquiry called TEST

Add FixedAsset table to the Source Data

(PX.Objects.FA.FixedAsset)

add Fixed Assets / Asset CD to the results tab.

Should give me a whole lot of FA CD numbers….. instead

I get the error.

I suspect you are right about permissions!

I just noticed that when I create a “new Inquiry” I don’t have access to site map title field.

When I do try to publish per your suggestion I get a popup error “Cannot finr the form(NodeID = and a code number here)

I’ll dig deeper in the permissions, didn’t see anything obvious like “Generic Inquiry admin”

There is a role called “customizer.” That is the role that should give you full access to the generic inquiry editor
