Closing Branch - Allow Historical Data

Hello,

We are trying to understand how best to proceed if we closed down one branch in our larger company of 33 branches in 2023, but still would like to see historical data without it impacting our 2024 reporting. The branch only has equity and retained earnings on the books.

Hello @brandonm !

In my opinion, I would move the data to a separate database in Acumatica or another system. This way you can solve two problems of both having your historical data without impacting 2024 financial reportings. I would follow the instructions here to export the historical data:

From there it’s up to your team if you want to create a new tenant / database to house the historical data or just review the exported data in another program.

Let me know if this helps, thanks!

Hello,

One idea is to copy the company/Branch Unit Set that is in use with your financial reports. Remove the closed branch from 2024’s Unit set while leaving the closed branch in the 2023 Unit Set.

Next, make a copy of your Report Definitions to make separate 2023-2024 versions with appropriate Unit Sets.

Last, you may like to organize the Reports menu to group 2023 separate from 2024 and forward versions.

At first I thought you wanted to see the equity and retained earnings from a closed company included in financial reports.

Vlad’s response inspires me to ask:  exactly what kind of Historical Data are you interested in seeing?
