Safety Stock is not producing a purchase suggestion in Inventory Planning Display

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

Hello,

After the Regen of inventory planning, this stock item is not shown as needing an action in Inventory Planning Display.  The stock item was created specifically for this exercise, so it has no inventory and is not referenced on any existing documents.

The expectation is that we would see this stock item in Inventory Planning Display suggesting to order for the safety stock demand.

No specific warehouse Inventory Planning settings, so should use what is in the stock item screen.

Hi @ltussing03 please share your build#

Inventory Planning Display and Inventory Planning Results by Item would be helpful as well

Also, in order to plan stock, I believe the system needs to know for what warehouse.  Try adding a Warehouse record for the Item (on Stock Item).

If you need different values for other warehouses, that is when the settings on Item Warehouse Detail come into play.

Angie,

Thanks for the reply.  The safety stock setting on the stock item does not appear to do anything.  Is this field not used at all if you have multiple warehouses?

I added a warehouse detail record for each of the 3 warehouses.

The system ignored the safety stock on the Stock Item when it created the warehouse detail and had safety stock set to zero.

I ran Inventory Planning again in this state, and nothing was produced.

I went into one warehouse detail record and changed the Safety Stock there.

So the safety stock on the stock item does nothing?  It is not copied to the warehouse detail when you add the record, and inventory planning ignores it.

Again, on the stock item we had safety stock set to 1111.

Angie,

Since Inventory planning does not look at the safety stock on the stock item screen if there are multiple warehouses, and the safety stock does not copy over when you create a warehouse detail record, it appears the safety stock value on the stock item screen doesn’t do anything in a multiple warehouse environment.  Does this sound correct?

Thanks,

Larry

Hi, Larry. I just replicated in my system which utilizes multiple warehouses, and the new warehouse detail record automatically defaults to the stock item inventory planning settings, not 0. I did not see any Inventory Planning Preferences that control this, but perhaps there is another setting or error that is occurring. What is the yellow warning message saying on the GENERAL tab of your item warehouse details screenshot? My thought is that the warehouse may not be fully set up or has a replenishment setting that prevents it from recognizing the stock item values.

Best,

Dom
