Purchases Clearing - Incorrect quantity receipted

I need assistance cleaning up my purchases clearing.  I have a balance hanging in the account due to incorrectly receipting a quantity of 6 when the order quantity was only 3.  What is the best way to correct this in the system?

Hello,

Enter a Purchase Return for the 3 items that were received by accident.

Is the receipt released? If so, @Laura02’s solution is correct and you will need to enter a purchase return.
