Automation Schedule Stopped Running

I have a couple of automation schedules that have been running daily for a few months. For no apparent reason, they stopped a couple of days ago. You can see the Next Execution Date for the first two is 3/29/2025, but today is 4/2/2025. Other schedules have continued to run since:

Can a scheduled event be re-triggered somewhere or manually run? Is there anything I can investigate to try and discover why these have started failing without notice?

When this happens, resetting caches and restarting the application will sometimes fix the issue.

In some cases, I’ve had to delete and recreate the schedule. I’ve also experienced that the recreated schedule will not run the day that I created it, but it will run the following day. I’ve never had the experience of a new schedule not working after the first day, but it is common for a schedule to not work that first day.

I do recall having an issue like this in the past, though not recently. I think we just rebuilt the automation schedule.

Have you tried manually changing the next execution date to a day in the future or today with a time in the future, this has worked for me in the past.

Could you confirm if there have been any customizations implemented on any processing screens that handle automation schedules? If so, it’s possible these customizations might be conflicting with the automation process.

Similar issue identified to another person, Did you kept any maintainence Mode for long time.

 

Also did you customizations built on any processing screen that has automation schedule setup which may conflict with the package publishing.

 

I had a similar issue, where we have done one customization in processing centre which also has option to setup the schedulers which stops working.

@aiwan On 4/2 I set the next execution date to 4/3 and that did not help. I waited to see if it would trigger on 4/4 based on ​@bwhite49 saying sometimes they don’t trigger the first day they are set up. It has not run.

@Manikanta Dhulipudi The site has not been in maintenance mode. We don’t have any customizations on any of the out-of-the-box processing screens. We do have a couple of custom processing screens but nothing scheduled for them. Are you saying even an unrelated and unscheduled custom processing screen could be affecting these scheduled business events referencing a GI?

I will try rebuilding the schedules today.

I finally restarted the application after trying everything else (including rebuilding the schedules). That worked. I had previously reset the caches per ​@bwhite49 suggestion but it wasn’t enough until the actual restart.
Thank you all the for the suggestions. I wish I could schedule application restarts...

Just wanted to add on that restarting the application worked for us as well. Just experienced this issue a couple of days ago.
