Attributing a Campaign to a SO without a lead or opportunity

Is there a way to generate a sales order and attribute it to an ongoing campaign to it. We sometimes have orders come in over the phone where we directly put a sales order in instead of putting them in as a lead or opportunity. Is there a space on the sales order where this can be put to account for the sale and attribute it to the campaign to track the success of it?

Please enter "Campaign ID" into the "External Reference" of the Sales Order screen and understand that this SO comes from that Campaign ID.

Entering the Campaign ID into the External Reference won’t automatically track the SO back to a campaign, correct? It is just a placeholder to use for manual tracking? (We currently use the External Reference field to store the ecommerce order number.)

We’re also working on a way to track call-in Sales Orders without a lead to existing campaigns and have been unsuccessful. In testing, I found a place to attribute a Sales Order to a specific campaign during the SO creation process (or once the sale is completed if I re-open the SO), but the attribution didn’t have an effect on the Campaign revenue, most likely because the campaign is only tracking sales from Leads/Opportunities.

  • On the RELATIONS tab, I selected the plus (+) sign, then set the following:
  • Role = Source
  • Type = Campaign
  • Under Document, all of our campaigns were listed and I chose the one associated with the sale:

I would be interested to know if attributing a sale’s revenue to a campaign report is possible when there is no existing Lead or Opportunity. Is going through the lead creation process the only way to accomplish this?
