I cannot find anywhere how to set the default shipping carrier that is chosen on the Sales Order screen under the Shipping Settings tab under ‘Ship Via’ and also on the Shipment screen at the same place.

We have implemented the FedEx carrier plugin, but not the UPS one.  UPS Ground is on the Ship Via Codes, but there is no place to select the default.  We have 6 FedEx Ship via Codes, from the plugin, and one UPS and UPS is defaulting on every document.

Thanks, and this would be a good thing to include in the documentation on setting up carriers.

Hi @noah79,

We can provide default Ship Via for each customer.  In the Customers screen, we have “Ship Via” field under the Shipping tab. If we set this ship via field , while creating the Sales Order, this will be populated automatically. Please find the screenshot for reference. Hope this helps!

Hi @noah79

In addition to what Naveen showed, you can further set the default ship via based off of the customer class. This way the ship via will be filled out once the customer class is selected.

Thank you both so much.  A lot of ‘defaults’ work this way, so it totally makes sense. Thanks again, this is a great resource!

Thanks again!  For anyone else who comes across this, this change to the customer class get’s inherited to the customer document at time of creation. Meaning it will only be the default for new customers of that class (Acumatica version 2020 R1 build 20.106.0005).

Certain other class attributes, like Attributes  , change all the customer’s of that class, old and new.

I don’t know if anyone involved with the documentation will read this, but I think it would be really helpful to explain this behavior and even document which fields have which behavior.
