Hello, my name is Eric Hugunin. I'm the COO/CFO for Phoenix. We are a general contractor and operate mostly in the insurance restoration industry, although our traditional general contracting lines are growing. We subscribe to the construction vertical and have been able to customize and tailor the Acumatica software to fit our specific needs as we have different service lines and metrics based on our niche services.
In 2019, we started our ERP journey as we were still operating QuickBooks after 20 years in business. We were on the verge of imploding with our QuickBooks software due to the amount of data. We were 100% paper-based and untimely in our financial reporting. Acumatica was the #1 choice for us as it was cloud-based, allowed for customization, provided built-in CRM and GAAP revenue recognition, integrations with existing timekeeping software, among others... The software has allowed us to be entirely paperless in our invoicing, payables, and credit card transactions. We are light years ahead in our real-time reporting from where we used to be. Additionally, the cloud based functionality allows us to communicate and keep moving forward as our Project Managers have a hybrid work environment and not always in the office.
We have embraced the flexibility that Acumatica provides. We have been able to customize the software to how we operate instead of us having to change the way we operate to fit our software. Some of our notable accomplishments in the last 4 years have been automating our payables via the OCR tool, converting from checks to ACH payments, credit card automated feeds, utilizing the built in CRM module and integrate with our projects module within Acumatica, Microsoft integration, full implementation and integration with WorkForceGo for timekeeping and payroll reporting, construction module financial tools (AIA, retainage, WIP reports and earned revenue calculations...), custom push notification texts and emails for various reminders and URGENT/IMPORTANT tasks that need addressed, etc...
If implemented and used properly, the software creates an inherent accountability because of the visibility and transparency it offers. It's very difficult to fly under the radar due to the real-time data and cloud based functionality when coupled with the customization we've set in place. As a company, we are really starting to see the fruits of our labor. Even as we continue to grow, our Admin department has measurable efficiencies in tasks due to some of the changes we implemented within Acumatica.
We were privileged to be selected as an Industry Leader several years ago by Acumatica. This has allowed us the platform to share our story on several occasions. Additionally, we always welcome the opportunity to talk with prospective and current clients about our journey, what we've learned, and where we want to continue to grow. Looking back... we have been able to accomplish a lot with the assistance of our VAR and internal team. I have an amazing teammate and she has been selected 3 years in a row as an MVP. My role in our ERP journey is the Visionary and she truly has embraced the Integrator role in bringing our roadmap and wish-lists into real and tangible solutions.
