Using Item Cross References with BigCommerce Connector

While testing a customer integration with BigCommerce, we have some items on our BigCommerce site that are actually cross referenced to existing items in Acumatica. If we try to sync an order that uses that cross reference it doesn't recognize the item during the sync. On the following support case we were told this was reviewed with the commerce team and as of now there is no support for Cross References. (Case #169121)

Hi @MatthewB44 This is correct for 2020r1 and 2020r2 versions.

We have it in the roadmap, but it will not be available before 2021r1 updates.

Hope it helps!

Hi @MatthewB44 - As @smarenich mentioned, in the currently available version of the Commerce Connector Cross Reference SKUs are not recognized by the Commerce Connector. We intend to add support for this in a future release.

In the Fall we had a customer who also needed this functionality and they were able to write a pretty light customization to solve this challenge. When an incoming order has a SKU which can not be found in the inventory, the customization will search through the cross references in the ERP for the SKU. If it finds a cross reference for the SKU, it accepts the sales order. If not, it displays an error.

If you take a look at some of the other articles in this discussion forum there are multiple articles about writing customizations for Commerce Edition. A few of the articles are similar situations - reviewing incoming orders and then take a particular action before creating a sales order. These may help you get started.
