I am attempting to add a parameter to the Sales Order GI. I need to search the field for any that contain the contents of the parameter.

I have it set like this:

This results in:

How do I prevent the <NEW> and, if possible, the lookup table? I want the users to have the ability to enter text without the system trying to lookup an SO

Set the schema field to a free form text field, something like SOOrder.description

Hi!

I think that you shouldn’t use the schema field. Just leave it as an open field and the user will be able to write anything. This, however, will prevent any sugestions from the system.

Hope this helps

Hello @rcreasy ,

I’m confused by your question, because Sales Order - Order Number field already appears in the Sales Order preview list and it’s already searchable (in full, and using partial) using the Search field as shown here:

Any field you add to the Preview List, or to any Generic Inquiry becomes searchable as shown above when the following Use in Quick Search box is selected, checked ON, for each line:

Laura

@miguel80 Thanks for the response. I did try that. I get an error stating that the field cannot be empty.

@Laura02 You are correct. However, we have so much data that the quick search is anything but quick. I know that column search is faster. But, that requires the user to take several steps. I am trying to speed things up.

@Laura02 Your response gave me the idea to remove OrderNbr from the quick search. That change gave me the result I want.

I am going to wait for any other input before I call this the solution.
Any other thoughts from the hive mind?

@darylbowman You Rock! Thanks for coming through again.
For others that come across this issue - I used the field SOOrder.OrderDesc

Hey Daryl,

Does this only work if the data field that I am looking for is also a free form text field.

Or does the Schema Field that I use as the parameter need to match the Data Field that I set the condition to? For some reason, I set everything up the same as the information in this post, but when I type in the parameter box, no matter what, everything goes blank and says no results.

I was hoping to have a textbox parameter to look for an Inventory ID in the GI.

So that as they type the ID in the textbox, the GI will start to filter.

I ended up doing the same as some other mentions in this post, I just restricted all of the quick search results to the one field that I need for this GI. But I was really curious how this does work in case I can find a use for it later.

I think it could work on other fields, but I can't say I've tried it. It may need some tweaking depending on the situation.
