I had an employee leave the company who had several hundred open tasks assigned to them as the owner. This is the first time I have had to deal with this since we are relatively new to Acumatica so I was thinking there was already a system tool to do that. I didn’t find one and I was told that Assignment maps might be the way to go but I didn’t see where I could do an assignment map for task ownership. That leaves me with an import scenario.

I have created the following import scenario.

Every time I try to run the import scenario I get an error that says “Error: “’Summary’ cannot be empty.”

Not sure what I am doing wrong, I am just trying to change the ownership of an existing open task to a different owner. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I used another post in the community to try and figure it out but I am still having the issue.
How create a Import Scenario to update Owner on the Task Screen CR306020

I found the solution. For some reason having the Action Cancel step on the import scenario was causing the ‘Summary’ cannot be empty error. Not sure why this was the case, but by removing that part of the import scenario make it work.

This is what my import scenario looked like when I was getting the error:

And this is what the working version looks like:

Hi, instead of hard coding the owner’s name in there, have you tried creating a column for owner in your source file and fill that column with the owner’s name? And then your source/field value will just be ‘Owner’?

I have run into a similar error before and that’s what I did.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them both and each time I still go the error “Summary cannot be empty”. I even tried added the Summary back in and having it write back the same summary value and it still had threw the same error even though the summary is clearly not empty. I would welcome any other thoughts on how I might work around this issue.

Here is the current version of the import scenario:

And this is the error I get when running the import scenario:

Thanks for that sample import scenario but it still throws the “Summary cannot be empty” error for changing the ownership of a task. Not sure where this error is coming from because the summary isn’t empty.
