Question

Total Standard time for Make Parts within a BOM

I am looking for a way to look at a multi-level BOM that shows a complete breakdown of make vs. buy on all levels of each part within it.  Ultimately, I want to understand what the total standard time is for the BOM.

Are you looking for the summary, costing, quantities? There isn’t really anything out of the box, but you could start with the Multilevel report, the Bom Compare, or the engineering work bench. If you want to look at summaries, you may need to build a specific GI to see what you are looking for.  A bit more details and an example would be helpful.

I am looking to key in a BOM PN and look at every part inside of it, any level that is considered a “make part” and understand the amount of standard time associated with them each individually and totally.

This will tell me a total cost of in house labor that is associated with a top level BOM/SKU.

yeah, this is a very complex calculation, and would be a bit of an effort. You would essentially need to create an inquiry pulling in most of the AMBOM tables to get a calculation, as the table that the BOM Summary Report uses is not exposed in a way that you can easily view the calculations. The Engineering Workspace gives you an indicator of if the part is made or purchased, but it does not sum or calculate a capable to promise.

I know that there are a few folks looking at this, and I have done a “can I build it” inquiry that pulls in the components and the quantities, but not the lead times or costs associated with this.

Thanks for the insight Jeremey, this function is a staple of previous ERP’s I’ve used.  When you say people are working on it, is it within Acumatica or independently?

I thought I found a solution to this using the “engineering work bench”.  This almost has what you need to understand standard time inside a top level BOM, however the engineering work bench is a useless tool.  You can not export it.  For each line item you can select you can see the data displayed in the pane to the right of it, but its not tied to in any logical fashion that allows you to export it and manipulate the data.

If I could simply export this information with this data tied to it, Acumatica would have a modicum of functionality.
