Can I group Employees linked to a labor transaction into a "labor/employee" group

When doing a labor transaction in the “Employee ID” field can I create or have a labor group instead of recording time for individual employees ? I

This functionality is not supported in the standard product. Labor entry can only be tracked by specific employee ID.

Perhaps someone else on the community can speak to if they have built a customization to satisfy this request.
