Fixed Assets Module: Disposal Import Scenario

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi there,

I’m trying to create an Import Scenario to dispose of a large number of assets across multiple companies.

However, I’m getting a generic error.

Below is the trace:

Here’s what the Import Scenario looks like - I’ve also attached the .xml file for reference (note we don’t have sub accounts active).

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks!

Good day,

In your case instead of <Action: Dispose> (RunDisposal) you need to use <Action: OK> (DisposalOK)

Please see attached Import Scenario

Also, I’m aware that the trace is stating “FA Error: The disposal period (12- 202) cannot be earlier than the period of the most recent transaction (12-2025).”

I’m not sure why it’s returning ‘12- 202’, given I’ve hard coded ‘12-2025’. Also, changing the field mapping to just ‘DisposaPeriodID’ (i.e. no lookup) provides a generic error.

Hi,

I’ve updated the GI, and have attached the newest version, while the period error has now gone - see trace - I’m still getting an error.

Thanks very much!

Hi johnh3,

I have been following your thread since you started it.

I am in a similar situation as yours, with my import scenario throwing the same error as yours. However, looking at your import scenario, I would make a few changes:

  • I would move the Action/Dispose (Run Disposal) before the Disposal Parameters;
  • In the last line of the import scenario I would add a Dialogue Answer for when the sequence warns the user that this operation is irreversible

To this point I could not succeed in making the Import Scenario run without errors, although I am sure we are very close in finding the culprit.

Meanwhile I found out a workaround, using the Process “Asset Disposal”, where the user can select the assets which need to be disposed of. In order to import a selection of items, I used the field Tag Number, which is located at the Asset profile level in General->Tracking Info->Tag Number, and populated this field with the wording “DISPOSED”. Once the items which need to be disposed of are marked as such, one can run the Process by entering only a few parameters (disposal date, action before disposal, etc).

I attached the Import Scenario for tagging the assets to be disposed for your consideration. It is not the most straight forward solution, but it worked in my case.

Best of luck!
