Hi Erin,

That warning will still around, but a yellow warning will not prevent you from saving or processing (a red error would stop you in your tracks).   Control accounts help ensure that your subledgers (the various modules) don’t get out of balance from your General Ledger.  This is why you have the option to prevent Manual Posting (i.e. a manual journal entry) to these accounts.

To mark an account as a control account, you set this up on the Chart of Accounts.  Check out this article for more information: https://help-2020r2.acumatica.com/Help?ScreenId=ShowWiki&pageid=29cf6881-e21f-4130-94fb-f10bfd511ff7

As per the article above: “It is possible, although not recommended, to not configure any GL accounts as control accounts. In this case, when a non-control account is selected in a box where the system expects that a control account for the applicable subledger be selected, a warning is displayed.”

Regards,

Megan

Hi Irina

Thank you very much for your reply.

Does it mean that if we click the account code under “ aallow manual entry” which mean we can do manual posting? for the rest , we are not allowable?

How about we create a journal transactionand post , is this consider manual posting?

We have done many journl transaction however the chart of account is under click for “ allow manual entry” why we still can create journal and manual posting the journal transaction?

Erin,

For accounts that have a Control Module associated with them, if the “Allow Manual Entry” box is selected you can create manual general ledger batches against them.  If it is blank, then you cannot do manual entries (i.e. through the Journal Transaction Screen).  The system will always permit system generated entries (i.e. posting an AR bill to the control account for AR).

If the account does not have a Control Module associated with it, the allow manual entries checkbox is not active and you can always do manual entries (unless your user ID is restricted from accounts due to other security settings).

Hi @erin

  • ‘Allow manual entry’ is enabled ‘ONLY’ for those accounts with ‘Control account module’ selected, so its relevant only for Control accounts
  • All other accounts even without ‘allow manual entry’ option checked can be used on manual Journal transactions
