This article provides information about the Acumatica implementation of 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC tax documents and e-filing options for 2023. Detailed information about these forms is available from the IRS website (1099-MISC, 1099-NEC).
Information for Customers who use Pre-Printed Forms
To resolve possible issue with the printing alignment, we encourage you to update to the following Acumatica ERP builds where the paper size of the 1099-NEC (AP653100) report have been changed to Letter:
- 2022 R2 Update 3 (22.203.0043) or later
- 2022 R1 Update 14 (22.114.0029) or later
For more info, workaround for earlier builds and additional steps to fix possible alignment issues, refer to the Known issue: The report printed on the 1099-NEC (AP653100) form did not fit the Letter paper size knowledge base article
Information for Customers who submit E-File
Changes to IRS e-file formats have been completed in the Acumatica builds below. Before e-filing, ensure you are on a proper build.
In all currently supported Acumatica ERP versions (Acumatica ERP 2022 R1, 2022 R2, 2023 R1 and 2023 R2), the changes made in instructions for Electronic Filing according to Publication 1220 (Rev. 9-2023) to the 2023 tax year were not implemented. That is, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania US states have not been added to the list of states which are included in the CF/SF Program. For more information and solution, refer to the Known issue: In Acumatica ERP, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania US states are not added to the CF/SF Program for the 1099-MISC Electronic Filing knowledge base article.
Changes for the e-file format created on the Create E-File (AP507500) form for both 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC are included in the following builds:
- 2023 R2 Update 3 (23.203.0040) or later {released Nov 17, 2023}
- 2023 R1 Update 13 (23.113.0042) or later {released Nov 24, 2023}
- 2022 R2 Update 20 (22.220.0026) or later {released Nov 10, 2023}
- 2022 R1 Update 26 (22.126.0004) or later
In all currently supported Acumatica ERP versions, the format of the electronic file generated in the system is .txt. After the system generates the file, it should be uploaded to the IRS website by using the Filing Information Returns Electronically (FIRE) system.
The generation of the .csv file for the Information Returns Intake System (IRIS) is not supported.
