General Information:

  • Microsoft has announced the end of support for their Bing Maps tool on June 30, 2025.
  • If you currently have a Bing Map Key, it will continue working until June 2025.
  • Microsoft has discontinued issuing Bing Map Keys to new users as of July 1, 2024.
  • Microsoft recommends Bing Map users register to use the Azure Map tool.

Issue:

Acumatica Field Services supports Bing Maps in our various map views tied to the calendar.  These include Appointment History on Map, Staff Appointments on Map, Routes on Map and Staff Routes on Map.

  • Acumatica introduced support for Azure Maps in the 2023R2 update 17 release, which was made available for customers in October 2024.
  • This support will cascade into 2024R1 update 14 and 2024R2 update 3 per our normal development roll-up process, so by the end of the year, 2024R1 and 2024R2 versions will include support for Azure Maps.

Solution:

Steps for Field Service customers who want to use Azure Maps:

  1. The company using Acumatica must go to https://portal.azure.com and register to acquire an Azure map key.
  2. This map key is then entered into Service Management Preferences à Calendar and Maps tab > Map API Key field.
  3. The Map views have changed to look for an Azure or Bing key.  If the Key is not valid, a message will appear on the map view.

We will continue to update you as more information becomes available. Look for more posts in the months leading up to June 2025.

Hi @cindywhitner76,

We are attempting to utilize the “Staff Appointments on Map” FS301100 screen. I followed Microsoft’s steps for creating an Azure Maps account/service. I then brought over the Shared Authentication Key to the Service Management Preferences FS100100 screen and saved. The map on FS301100 screen generates with the “The specified credentials are invalid. You can sign up for a free developer account” error. Is there something I need to do to our environment to correctly point to the Azure site instead of Bing? We are on 24R1 24.110.0017.

Thanks,

Tyler

@temberson - With the information you provided, you are on 24R1 update 10.  The support in 24R1 for the Azure keys is at 24R1 update 14.  Please try to upgrade to this version and see if this corrects the situation.  The Map API Key field should automatically identify between Bing or Azure and validate the key within the map view.  If you update your version and are still having issues, please enter a support case for us to do further investigation.

For future clarification, I will add this detail in the announcement.  Appreciate you reaching out.

Cindy
