Training Description: This webinar provides a set of lessons that illustrate the fixed asset accounting processes in a midsize company.

Training Syllabus: The program is covered over four days as follows:

  • Day 1: Fixed Asset Configuration. In this session, you will learn how to specify the initial settings for the fixed asset functionality, create departments, update the chart of accounts with accounts to be used in transactions involving fixed assets, specify fixed asset preferences, configure posting books and financial periods, and create fixed asset classes. Also, you will learn how to convert a purchase to a fixed asset and to multiple fixed assets.
  • Day 2: Fixed Asset Maintenance. In the second session, you will learn how to reconcile the created fixed asset, create a fixed asset that is under construction and a fixed asset with multiple units. You will also learn how to create and reconcile a fixed asset with settings that differ from those copied by the system from the fixed asset class. You will create an addition to an existing fixed asset manually and by converting a purchase, create a debit adjustment, and make a deduction from a fixed asset.
  • Day 3: Fixed Asset Management and Depreciation. In this session, you will learn how to transfer fixed assets, release transfer transactions, and dispose of a single fixed asset. Moreover, you will lear how to calculate depreciation for a single fixed asset, depreciate multiple fixed assets, and calculate depreciation in two depreciation books. You will also learn how to perform full depreciation of an addition to a fixed asset, fully depreciate the fixed asset, and make a depreciation adjustment.
  • Day 4: Closing of Financial Periods. Migration of Fixed Assets. In the fourth session, you will learn how to split a part of a fixed asset, transfer a fixed asset, and dispose of a fixed asset. You will find general information on how to close financial periods in the fixed asset subledger, and an activity that describes how to reconcile FA and GL balances and close the financial period. You will find general information on how to migrate fixed assets from a legacy system, an activity that describes how to create a partially depreciated asset, an activity that describes how to migrate fixed assets by using an import scenario, an activity that describes how to apply a Section 179 deduction to a fixed asset's cost, and reports that can be useful to find and view account balances.

*To provide a cloud instance for attendees, we need to generate a registration report and perform some activities to deploy the instance and send out the credentials. All this takes time and we have to do it several hours before the webinar. So we highly recommend not leaving the registration up to the last minute of the webinar start. Everyone who registers after 6 AM PT of Day 1 session will not receive the link to the cloud instance and credentials for it and will have to attend a webinar in a view-only format.

Partner Certification: This webinar is based on the materials of the F310 Fixed Assets course, which is part of the Fixed Assets badge. Completion of this class does not give you an automatic completion of the related course at Partner University; you will still need to complete the exam at Partner University.
