Hi! is there a way to reserve inventory for customers without sales orders? I’m familiar with sales order allocations and transferring inventory to location holds but was wondering if there was another way. The business case is when certain product is low they need to set it aside for priority customers.

Thanks Everyone. Due to the high volume the customer didn’t like having to do inventory transfers so we settled on using a custom order type that auto assigns allocation and lot number since they’re fifo. We’re using a generic customer for ones not needing one. Then we use the manage sales allocations to alleviate some of that work.

Hi @estebanperalta54

You can reserve inventory for customers by entering the inventory quantity in the Issue or Transfer screen and saving it in 'On Hold' status. You add the information about the inventory held for customers in the NOTE section on the Issue or Transfer screen.

Best Regards,

@estebanperalta54 - is this inventory for project or other inventory?  If you’re using project inventory, you can transfer the inventory to the project (ahead of issuing) which prevents it from being issue anywhere else.

One option could be creating a “virtual” warehouse. Reserved inventory could then be transferred to this new warehouse to prevent allocation to other orders and the warehouse can be manually assigned to this reserve warehouse during Sales Order creation.
